The City of Zagreb has launched a Welcome Center for Foreigners to help new residents integrate smoothly into Croatian society. Situated at Trg Stjepana Radića 3, this center offers a range of services tailored to assist international newcomers in navigating daily life and legal requirements in Croatia. Key services include language support, employment information, legal advice, and guidance on accessing healthcare and social services.

This initiative aligns with Zagreb’s vision of fostering a multicultural community and addressing the practical challenges that foreign residents face. By providing resources and personal assistance, the center aims to create a welcoming atmosphere and build connections within the community. The establishment of the Welcome Center highlights Zagreb's commitment to making the city accessible and inclusive for people from all cultural backgrounds.
The center is a place where foreign workers can receive information about their rights and obligations, assist with administrative procedures, and overcome language barriers. They will also learn where to study Croatian, as approximately 20,000 foreign workers reside in Zagreb, with about 13,000 having limited Croatian language skills.
“The presence of foreign workers is a fact, and language knowledge is crucial for integration. That’s why the city has launched Croatian language courses for them,” added the mayor.
Mayor Tomašević expressed hope that other cities would follow suit, as the number of foreign workers is increasing across Croatia. (www.zagreb.hr)
